- Where are you from? What do you do for work? Family?
I grew up in Florida, met Mike at Florida State in Tallahassee and relocated up here 6 years ago to be close to his family. I love the seasons and hate the traffic. We have two littles who I was so fortunate to be home with when they were babies and I now work part time for a start-up company doing contract and data analysis, client relations, marketing, and a little of everything else.
- When did you start CFP?
I started in May 2015 after my husband Mike had been coming 6 months and convinced me to come to bring-a-friend day. I decided it would get me in better shape but I was sure I wouldn’t enjoy it. I fell for CF hard and fast 🙂
- What’s your biggest fitness/health accomplishment since starting CFP?
My biggest accomplishment was probably changing my focus from how I looked to what I can do. I have always had a regular work out regiment and it was generally about what part I wanted more toned. It is so much more fun and rewarding to measure PRs in what I am capable of. Being more toned is just a side benefit, I finally have some muscle and shape to speak of!
- What are your future fitness goals?
I would love to have double unders, kipping pull ups and hand stand push ups by the Open next year. I hope to RX more work outs as I go.
- What do you do for fun?
CrossFit. What do you do for fun? Honestly, I look forward to the midday break and getting to work out with a great group of people. We also mountain bike with the kids and I love any chance I get to grab a leisurely lunch or coffee with a friend.
- Favorite lift/workout?
Recently, I’m loving kettlebells only because I can actually hit the RX button with them! I really enjoy the barbell work, though I’m not very strong. I keep adding weight a little at a time and I love fighting for that next jump.
- Least favorite lift/workout?
I hate wall balls. And currently, I hate the new tuck-jump mod for DUs. I will get learn DUs so I don’t have to do those wretched tuck jumps.
- What advice would you give to anyone wanting to start at CrossFit Passion?
The coaching is so good and the members are awesome. Don’t worry about what you can or can’t do. The coaches will modify and help you all along the way and the members will cheer you on whether you are fighting for your PR of 35# or 350#. Do on-ramp, commit to 3 months, and you’ll be hooked.
